About 70 Percent of CBC Classrooms Complete, Says Magoha.
A total of 11,000 new classrooms are set to be delivered by the end of the year, ahead of the Junior secondary school rollout.
2000 classrooms have already been completed and 350 of those have already been commissioned. About 70 percent of the classrooms are completed.
Prof George Magoha commissioned two CBC classes in Kiambu County yesterday.
The new blocks at Kiuu River Secondary School in Kiambu Sub-County and Kibichiku Secondary School in Kabete Sub-County are now operational.
The two secondary schools, each with a capacity of 380 and 391 students and two streams per class, are the most recent to benefit from the Ministry of Education’s CBC project.
As the country prepares to elect a new administration on August 9, preparations are being made to ensure a smooth transition of power from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
A new administration brings with it sweeping changes, and Cabinet Secretaries are among the first to be replaced as an incoming President lays the groundwork for his or her legacy.
Speaking about the transition, Education CS George Magoha expressed concern for his successor, whom he challenged to uphold the standard he had set in the sector.
The CS was concerned that the new office-bearer would struggle to maintain his achievements while also maintaining the docket’s credibility.
“I urge Kenyans not to slide back irrespective of what transpires. For the incoming administration, whichever it is, no condition is permanent, but for our children, being in school is permanent,” stated Magoha while supervising the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination on Tuesday, March 15.
Nonetheless, the CS expressed surprise at how Kenyans perceived him, defended his legacy, and claimed that he worked tirelessly to improve the education sector.

“It is hard for leaders to acknowledge our success. We have cut down construction costs of classrooms from Ksh1.2 million to Ksh788,000. These projects are better than what others built.
In previous interviews, the CS stated that he was tasked with reforming the education sector and raising standards in the country, a responsibility he believes he has flawlessly executed.
