Forty-two KCSE candidates from Dibuoro Secondary School in Alego/Usonga sub-county, as well as nine others, are being held at Siaya police station for alleged exam malpractice.

According to Alego/Usonga Sub-County Police Commander Benedict Mwangangi, 20 candidates were discovered in possession of four mobile phones that had some leakage of the Chemistry paper that they were to take.
According to the police chief, after examining the phones, it was discovered that they also had a leak of the Kiswahili paper on Thursday.

Mr Mwangangi stated that the phone had a WhatsApp group with 42 students from that school as members, which compelled them to look for the other 20 students to accompany the first 22 to the police station to record a statement.
Even though the main suspect in the syndicate is still at large, Siaya Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Enock Nyarango stated that the nine others, including the school principal and Chemistry teacher, were chosen to give a statement to the police.
