The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially launched Kenya’s first live-streaming lessons today on Wednesday, January 26.
The initiative will enable a single teacher to teach students in multiple classes from different schools at the same time.
The event, which took place at the Alliance Girls High School in Kiambu County, aims to ensure that teachers are used wisely in the face of current shortages.
Lessons will be streamed live for two months, with a focus on the sciences, mathematics, and English.
“Students from 110 sub-counties from 30 counties will access live-streaming lessons from teachers of top schools in a bid to ease staff shortage,” Dr Nancy Macharia said.
This initiative will also assist students in lower cadre schools in attaining the same educational standards as those in National schools.
Mrs Macharia stated that the lessons will be delivered from two primary schools, Alliance Girls High School and Machakos Boys High School, and will be streamed to ten other satellite schools in the selected sub-counties.
Kahi Indimuli, Chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA), praised the initiative, calling it a game-changer in the education sector.
