ROLE TITLE: HEADTEACHER
LOCATION: COMMUNITY CENTRE SCHOOL, MECHIMERU (Bungoma)
VACANCY (Re-advertisement):
Role Summary: Leading a capable and experienced team, and working in collaboration with the Community Centre Management, you will work under the Education department at the Community Centre School in Mechimeru, Bungoma. As the Headteacher, you will be in charge of the school’s operations in line with the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of the mother organization. The school caters to over 330 learners, providing excellent education based on Christian values from pre-school, Grades 1-6, to Junior Secondary Grades 7-9. Professionalism, competence, and integrity are paramount for this role.
Role Details:
- Direct, control, supervise, and appraise the performance of all school staff on behalf of management.
- Ensure the school vision is articulated, shared, understood, and effectively acted upon by all.
- Build a strong, dynamic, and cohesive culture supported by effective approved systems and structures.
- Set targets and goals for school staff through a participative process to improve education quality, pupils’ achievements, and ensure efficiency.
- Conduct annual reviews based on leadership, teaching, and learning standards.
- Monitor syllabus coverage, teaching quality, and effectiveness of learning outcomes.
- Provide leadership for co-curricular activities and school-based events.
- Build and maintain effective communication with parents, guardians, sponsors, education partners, and external stakeholders.
- Promote Christ-likeness within the school staff and partners through regular devotional and prayer sessions.
- Provide information, objective advice, and support to Senior Management/Board.
- Facilitate budgeting and accounting for disbursed school funds, ensuring reporting and audit activities are conducted.
- Compile comprehensive reports for the school on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Provide leadership and guidance for securing necessary registration, authorization, and documentation from relevant authorities.
- Facilitate networking with adoption services departments for the welfare of children.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Education/B.Ed degree or Bachelor’s degree and Post Graduate Degree in Education (PGDE) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution in Kenya.
- Mature born-again Christian with a verifiable testimony.
- Minimum of 8 years’ work experience in a busy community-based, donor-funded private or donor-supported public school.
- Experience in senior management (deputy headteacher, HoD, or senior teacher) of a primary school or equivalent institution.
- Proven track record in educational leadership, including school administration, classroom management, student assessment, and staff development.
- Passion for education and children.
- Conversant and compliant with Kenyan education systems, standards, regulations, and relevant government policies.
- Licensed by the TSC.
- Excellent communication skills in English, Swahili, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer proficiency and appreciation for emerging technology trends.
- Organizational and training skills, with an enthusiastic approach to work and ability to perform under minimal supervision.
- Excellent networking, people management, and team leadership skills.
- Flexible, self-motivated, with strong management rigor and a team player.
- Keen attention to detail, discretion, high integrity, and knowledge of relevant quality assurance and accountability systems.
