26 Bachelor’s Degree Teaching Courses banned by TSC
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has banned more than twenty Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Teaching programs.
Graduates who participated in the courses and hoped to be registered by TSC must now seek elsewhere for employment opportunities.
Applications for those whose training is in subjects that are NOT presently in the curriculum are ineligible, regardless of whether they have completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/or Enhancement, according to a section of the guidelines for the registration of new teachers.
Those who have completed a PGDE with these courses are NOT eligible for teacher certification.”
These courses do not provide sufficient subject content and therefore the mastery of the content in two teaching subjects is not adequate as required,” reads the guidelines.

However, the commission explains that those who possess a bachelor’s degree in science or the arts, a postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE), and two teaching subjects are eligible for registration.
According to the TSC, these courses do not address sufficient material. As a consequence, subject mastery in the two learning areas is insufficient.
The TSC will accredit bachelor’s degree programs in the arts and sciences that include a PGDE in two teaching disciplines.
This communication has been a pain in the neck for numerous graduates of these courses who had anticipated to be registered and hired by the Teachers Service Commission.
