2024 KCSE Exam Results Released: How to Check Results.

On Thursday, January 9, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba officially announced the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results at Mitihani House in Nairobi. A total of 962,512 students participated in the nationwide exam, which concluded on November 22, 2024.

CS Ogamba highlighted a significant increase in the number of candidates, with the total enrollment marking a 7.19 percent rise from the previous year.

KNEC CEO, David Njegere, confirmed that this increase is notable, as it is the first time this has occurred since 2020. The 2024 candidate number of 962,512 surpassed the 899,453 students who sat for the exam in 2023.

Ogamba further revealed that there were improvements in the performance of 17 subjects, including Math, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.

However, 10 subjects, including English and Home Science, saw a decline in results. He also disclosed that 246,391 candidates achieved university entry qualifications by scoring above a C+, compared to 201,133 in 2023.

KCSE Result Slip 2024/2025: Download and Print

Official result slips can be downloaded and printed at the examination centres where candidates sat for their exams. Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to thoroughly review the result slip for any errors, such as incorrect names or grades. If any discrepancies are found, they should be reported to KNEC within one month from the results release.

No SMS Code for KCSE Results

In a significant change from previous years, candidates will no longer be able to check their KCSE results via SMS. This decision was made following numerous complaints from parents and students over the years about the SMS service. The elimination of the SMS code was confirmed by the former Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, during the announcement of the 2023 results in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu.

Introduction of Mid-Year Exams for Repeat Candidates

In an exciting development, Ogamba announced that for the first time, the Ministry of Education would introduce mid-year exams for candidates wishing to retake the KCSE.

This initiative follows extensive consultations with various stakeholders and is designed to accommodate repeat candidates. Ogamba explained that the mid-year exam series would be available starting this year.

In a positive development, KNEC CEO David Njegere assured the public that there had been no reports of exam paper leaks during the 2024 exam cycle.

He attributed this success to the implementation of new technology to prevent any such incidents, explaining that there was not a single case of early exposure to the examination materials.

Ahead of the release of the exam results, President William Ruto expressed his optimism regarding the state of the education system.

He highlighted the growing number of girls enrolling in schools, noting that this trend was contributing to improved performance across the country. The President emphasized that more girls are now completing their education, a significant achievement for the education sector.
