To facilitate the learners who missed their qualifying examinations, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will arrange separate assessments before they progress to Form Three, according to the education minister.

After a careful review of the candidates who were unable to participate in their examinations, Machogu stated, “The council has only been able to trace 2,000 eligible learners… it has been decided that the 2,000 candidates join Form One on January 15th and be allowed to sit qualifying examinations later.”

He emphasized the importance for these students to take their qualifying examinations before entering Form Three, ensuring their registration for the KCSE when they reach Form Four.

In the announcement of the 2023 KCPE results on November 23, 2023, the CS mentioned that candidates who had missed the exam would have an opportunity to take a special examination this month, ensuring that no one from the final 2023 cohort misses Form One admission. At that time, he estimated the number of absentees at 9,354.
