Detectives in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County, have apprehended two suspects in connection with the county’s recent increase in robberies, defilement, and rape cases.
Kelvin Kipkemboi and Enock Kirwa, both 20, were apprehended in a raid on Sunday morning.
Several stolen valuables were recovered, according to DCI.
On March 26, the two men who were positively identified by their victims raped a student at Eldoret National Polytechnic.
“They gained entry into a room where the student slept with her boyfriend in Langas area, after ransacking the room, the two armed with a machete and a rungu commandeered the woman to carry the items to a waiting Toyota probox, before raping her,” DCI said.
This comes just a week after Kipkemboi and Kirwa were accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl in a similar incident.
“The duo had after breaking into the minor’s family home, dragged her outside and defiled her in turns,” DCI added.
According to the DCI, digital forensic analysts have located the two main suspects at the scenes of each crime, and the investigating officer is putting together a comprehensive case file for a presentation in court.
In the raid, a third suspect, Julius Kyalo, who was the recipient of the stolen electronic goods, was also apprehended.
The suspects are being held at Eldoret’s Central Police Station pending arraignment.
The DCI will collect DNA samples from the suspects for testing and analysis.

7-year-old girl defiled in church’s toilet

Police are looking for a suspect who is suspected of defiling a 7-year-old girl in the toilet of a Kiambu church during a wedding on Saturday.
According to the National Police Service, a report on the incident was filed at Gatundu Police Station.
The girl’s mother is said to have allowed her daughter to use the church restroom around 4 p.m., but she became concerned when she did not return within the expected time.
When the distraught parent went to check on her, she was met with a gruesome scene of her helpless child lying in a pool of blood inside the washroom.
A stranger stormed the toilet door and forcibly defiled the minor, threatening her with dire consequences if she called for help.
The uninjured victim was transferred from Gatundu Level V Hospital, where she had been rushed for treatment, to Kenyatta National Hospital.
She is in critical condition and has been admitted to the hospital.
“The National Police Service strongly condemns the cruel act of criminality meted on the minor and wishes her a speedy recovery,” NPS said.
NPS has assured the family that it will mobilize all necessary resources to ensure that the perpetrator is apprehended and charged as soon as possible.
Simultaneously, members of the public have been reminded that they have a societal and moral obligation to protect children from harm.
