From September 8-11, sixteen teams will compete for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National 7s title in Nakuru County.

After a week of regional interscholastic competitions held across the nation, the teams were selected.

Ofafa Jericho and Upper Hill lead the list of schools competing for the national championship.

They will face stiff competition from the Rift Valley, Western, Coast, Central, and Nyanza areas.

After Nanyuki, Menengai, Ngong Township, and Kabianga all advanced, Rift Valley will furnish most of the teams in the competition.

Nanyuki secured a spot by defeating Menengai 3-0 via drop kicks in a tight championship match, following a 7-7 deadlock in regulation and extra time.

They will be joined by semifinalists Ngong Township and Kabianga, who lost to Menengai and Nanyuki, respectively, by scores of 10-0 and 21-0.

Ngong placed third after defeating Kabianga 12-7 in the playoffs.

Koyonzo and Butula will be the Western region’s representatives. Koyonzo were declared champions following their 26-5 victory over Butula in the regional final at St. Peter’s Mumias.

Shimba Hills and Mazeras will defend the Coast region’s fort. Shimba defeated Mazeras by 36-0 to win the regional championship after defeating Mwambiti in the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, they had defeated Tudor 29-0 on their way to the podium.

On the other hand, Mazeras defeated Malindi 5-0 in the semifinals, mirroring their performance in the quarterfinals against Mghalu.

St. Mary’s Yala will raise the flag of Nyanza after defeating Nduru Boys 12-7. Yala advanced to the championship game with a decisive 14-5 victory over rival Maseno School in the semifinals.

Nduru defeated Agoro Sare 12-10 to earn a spot in the championship game.

All Saints Boys and Kang’aru will represent the Eastern region, while Alliance and Magumu will represent the Central region.
