15-Year-Old Student Takes Her Life Cites Bullying From Prefects
A cloud of sorrow has descended upon Bande Girls Secondary School in Migori County following the tragic suicide of a Form Three student on Sunday.
Police have opened an investigation into the suicide death of a form three student at Bande girls secondary school in Migori County on Sunday.
Winnie Malemba, the area chief, verified the incident.
According to a police incident report, the 15-year-old girl attended a church service on school grounds with other students.

She fled the church service while it was still in progress, only to be discovered deceased in a classroom.
The report also reveals that the student left a note stating that she committed suicide due to the bullying she received from one of the school’s prefects.
The police have transferred the student’s body to the level four hospital mortuary in Migori, where it awaits an autopsy and further investigation.

This heart-wrenching incident follows another harrowing suicide in the same county just a week prior.
