12-year-old Grade 4 Pupil Kills Himself Inside Classroom
Police and provincial administrators have launched an investigation into the death of a pupil aged twelve who is believed to have committed suicide in a classroom at the Sare primary school in Awendo, Migori County.
According to the local chief, Paul Ogweno, students who had just arrived at school on Tuesday morning discovered the body of the fourth-grader.
Ogweno stated that they have yet to determine what transpired prior to the boy’s suicide. According to the minor’s mother, he left the house early in the morning without expressing any concerns.
The deceased’s body was transferred to the mortuary at Rapcom Hospital pending an autopsy and police investigation.

In the meantime, the area chief has urged parents to have frequent conversations with their children so that they are aware of the difficulties they face.
He stated that a number of individuals could be mentally ill due to family issues and other factors. Without parental attention and emotional support, they decide to commit suicide.
Ogweno said there is a need for both toddlers and adults to get necessary psychosocial support when they are stressed.
Mental illness cases have increased in Migori County, according to data from the county health department.
